Quarry Street Vehicle Trial due to commence 1st February:
The purpose of the trial is to encourage visitors to use the town centre area in support of the local economy.
The project officially reintroduces vehicles to Quarry Street, (current pedestrianised area) and enables free short stay parking for 30min between 9.30am to 4pm along one side of the street (This will be the side with Baynes / Holiday & Flight). The parking area will be marked using signage indicating the zones. In addition, 30-minute waiting/short stay parking will also be introduced on Cadzow Street and Townhead Street using the existing bays. These areas currently have limited access.
To make the project work, Cadzow Street will be opened up to vehicles, however Keith Street access will be for public transport only. Due to the increase in traffic, deliveries will not be permitted outside the parking areas at any time. 30-minute waiting restrictions also apply to deliveries between 9.30am and 4pm.
It is anticipated that the 30minute waiting/ parking will be monitored and enforced. Operational details and timings have been provided by the local authority.
Hamilton Spring Festival – March 2024: Get involved!
We are delighted to announce that for 2024 we are planning to introduce new events and promotional activity for the month of March via the Hamilton Spring Festival. To include your event, promotion or activity as part of the festival guide please get in touch at malcolm.thomasharley@hamiltonbid.org. Our Christmas festival guide was downloaded over 8,000 times, therefore its well worth getting involved and kick starting the year! The aim of this activity is to create interest and activity within a quieter time of year in support of footfall and advertising of the area.
Current plans include, Quarry Street area treasure trail and market in the Regent on the 2nd March. A pop-up circus performance at the top cross on the 16th March and trail / treasure hunt around the area, Hamilton Easter Gala on Quarry Street for the 30th March alongside the events taking place in The Townhouse. Trails / treasure hunts will include some great prizes, more info to follow.
