Hamilton BID – B2B March 7th 2025

Footfall in January up year on year

Despite the challenging economic environment and local challenges, footfall continues to outperform year on year numbers. As reported, Hamilton BID area in 2024 seen a 2.2% increase in visits to the area +143k. In January 2025 Hamilton town centre recorded a 2.9% increase in visits year on year, the 3rd top performance in Scotland.

Our success in gaining the opening of Quarry Street for free 30min parking continues to produce results and has been an important action in the context of the town centre economy and visitor access. As per previous updates we are working collaboratively with the local authority to support the trial becoming permanent and with potential extensions to the scheme.

Footfall information is provided by Place Informatics.

Summer advertising campaign

Hamilton town centre has much to offer including an excellent range of local businesses, organisations and services. Communicating what our town has to offer is vital in supporting the local economy and community. On a daily basis, we use our digital channels to promote the town (if you’ve not signed up – get in touch).

In addition to our regular activity we are planning a new Hamilton Summer Festival, July 5th to August 2nd as a vehicle to promote the town centre, gain new visitors and to increase footfall and spending. As part of the festival, we will be looking to feature events and activities hosted by businesses / organisations as part of our festival guide and advertising plans. In addition, we are planning at least 2 high impact events working in collaboration with other organisations. If you have plans for running your own event or activity or are looking for additional advertising through sponsorship, drop us an email at info@hamiltonbid.org

Easter Gala day – 19th April

We’re delighted to once again host Hamilton Easter Gala day on Quarry Street, 10am to 4pm on the 19th April. This event has several benefits for the area including economic, (advertising, footfall, commercial) and community benefits (free to access activities, free entertainment, connections with town centre area). The business community in the area continues to make activities such as this possible, contributing to the community and supporting the local economy.

If your organisation would like to be involved with this popular event, please get in touch. Involvement could include trading at the market for free, leafleting, offering a market day discount as examples. In addition, sponsorship opportunities are available for this event.
