Hamilton Reindeer Parade 2022           FAQs

Q           When does the Parade start?

A            The Reindeer Parade will start forming at 2pm at the town square and will leave at approx. 2.30pm

Q           Where does the Parade end?

A            It will end at the top of Quarry Street in front of the Christmas Tree

Q           Can I meet the reindeer?

A            When the parade is forming from 2pm, we would ask that audience members don’t approach the reindeer whilst they’re being moved into position. We do not have direct engagement as part of the event

Q           How do I take part in the parade?

A            If you want to join the parade, come to the town square from 2pm where we invite you to start forming up behind Santa’s sleigh, the reindeer and our samba bands. There will be ground markers indicating where to stand and our parade director Brendon will be on his loud hailer getting the parade into position as well as our team of stewards

Q           Where can I view the Parade?

A            Anywhere along the route. We expect the top half of Quarry Street to be very busy though and there will be public barrier restrictions. You will get a better view in the lower half of the street

Q           What entertainment is in the parade?

A            There will be music in the parade from Sambayabamba, pipes from Clanadonia and fire theatre from The Juggling Gent.

Q           What happens after the parade?

A            When the procession reaches the top of Quarry Street, we will say goodbye to Santa and his reindeer then there will be more entertainment from Think Circus, Clanadonia, Drama Kirk and the light Switch on.

Q           Are there places to sit?

A            There are some benches along Quarry Street but we expect it to be very busy so you might struggle to get a seat!

Q           Are there toilets?

A            There are toilets in the Regent Shopping Centre for public use

Q           Where will Lost Children go?

A            Our lost child point is at the bandstand on Quarry Street. One of our events team will be on hand to assist

Q           What if I see something concerning?

A            If something is worrying you please speak to one of our helpful team in their high vis vests. As well as our stewards, there will be security from Rock Steady and a police presence. Our top priority is keeping everyone safe at all times!

Q           When does the event end?

A            After the parade arrives at the top of the street at approx. 3pm, there will be some entertainment until the event ends at 4pm

Q           What else is there to do?

A            There’s our fabulous Christmas market with over 30 stalls, street play from Operation Play Outdoors, a programme of live entertainment on the bandstand and our community stage, roaming street performers, face painting, balloon modelling, pop up street dance & football workshops…and of course all of the wonderful local shops and businesses to shop / spend in!
