Crime support open day – Beefeater Hamilton: 10:30 – 14:00 Monday 11th December – (Drop in anytime between these times)
We are hosting the Scottish Business Resilience Centre who will be attending a drop-in open session on Monday 11th December at the Beefeater on Townhead Street. This event, attended by our local officers has been organised to provide businesses with advice and support regarding crime in the run up to Christmas. The team is keen to pass on safety advice especially in terms of retail workers being subjected to violence and disorder from offenders who are also engaged in thefts.
Whilst this is a drop-in session – we are keen to understand the numbers attending. If you are planning to drop into this session, please email malcolm.thomasharley@hamiltonbid.org
What’s app crime prevention group:
In order to enhance communication among businesses and facilitate the sharing of information regarding issues such as crime / anti-social behaviour in the town centre, we are organising the launch of a WhatsApp group exclusively for businesses to join. If you would like to join this group, please compete this short form https://forms.gle/Zgw6yRKSbPjScj6KA. We will launch this group if / when enough businesses sign up.
Christmas Parade event cancellation:
Due to unexpected and severe weather conditions overnight into Saturday morning we were forced to cancel what would have been the 3rd festive event of the season. With our market stall hire company unable to reach our location and significant hazards present within the event areas and beyond we were left with no choice other than to cancel, despite best efforts through the early hours. The safety of our events is always our top priority, working with defined processes to ensure safety and quality. The various operational components required well in advance for our town centre events mean that rescheduling this specific activity is not possible at short notice for this year’s festive season. Despite this cancellation, we are on track to delivery an estimated additional footfall number for our 2023 events of just over 37k, the highest recorded.
Hamilton Christmas Market returns 16th December in the Regent Centre:
Hamilton Christmas Market will operate next in the Regent Centre on the 16th December. Due to the situation at the weekend, we have managed to significantly increase the level of entertainment for this event thanks to the kind efforts of performers and our production company. We have a very small number of stalls available for this date available, if interested a stall is free of charge. Please get in touch if interested.
