B2B Newsletter: April 14th 2023 – Hamilton BID

AGM:

We’ll be hosting our AGM on the 25th April in the Beefeater, 2pm – 4pm. This has been the location for our successful networking dates and has proven accessible and handy for many. If you’re planning to pop along you do not need to stay for the full 2 hours. If interested, please contact malcolmthomasharley@hamiltonbid.org

Easter Gala:

Last Saturday we hosted our new annual Easter Gala, which was successful in driving in additional footfall, providing the town centre with positive marketing and engaging the community with the space through the provision of high-quality free content. Since March, we have delivered in the region of 8,000+ additional visitors to the area via Hamilton Market and the Gala day. We’re back on May 27th with the Hamilton Market in the Regent Centre. Please get in touch if interested in taking a stall.

Pride, South Lanarkshire:

As many of you may already be aware, Hamilton Our Town, supported by EventScotland via grant funding are hosting South Lanarkshire’s first ever Pride festival on the 28th & 29th July in Hamilton. This new family pride festival will be a vibrant celebration of LGBTQ+ culture and is planned to take place on Quarry Street and the Town Square area. We will be fundraising with local youth and charitable organisations alongside engaging / supporting them via this project. We are currently working through the planning for this larger scale event and if any business would like to get involved directly in support, please contact us.

Hospitality: The current intention is to host a bar area in the Town Square, and we have engaged with the Pub Watch group regarding this opportunity. If any businesses would like involvement in this, please get in touch.

Pride Guide: We will be producing an online Pride Guide which will showcase the area, and signpost businesses participating and supporting the celebrations. This will particularly be read by visitors from out with the area and provides excellent marketing opportunities. Again, if you would like more info or to sign up to be included in this please get in touch.

The 2023 Lanarkshire Business Excellence Awards have been launched by North and South Lanarkshire Councils.

One of Scotland’s longest running awards, the Lanarkshire Business Excellence Awards recognise and celebrate the success and achievements of local businesses.

Applications are open to all Lanarkshire businesses and social enterprises across all sectors and are free to enter. Companies can apply for up to two of the ten categories.

Robert Brown, the chair of South Lanarkshire Council’s Community and Enterprise Resources, said: “We have a tremendous range of innovative businesses across Lanarkshire in all sorts of sectors. This is great opportunity for them to show off their achievements. I am sure every business putting themselves forward will be of the usual high standard and reflect how they continue to thrive and work to overcome all the external issues that are being faced across the business sector and beyond.

The strength and resilience of our local businesses never ceases to amaze me, and I look forward to seeing the high calibre of entries from across Lanarkshire.

The last few years have been challenging and our awards celebrate the achievements of businesses across the area who have shown their resilience and innovation in adapting to changing markets, financial situations and customer behaviours.”
